Truth is that you can call the CEO/President the Headman, the Bambambam or what have you. I don’t know if you get my drift, but it means it’s arbitrary. Check CEO in Wikipedia about it; it WILL help you in clearing this.

Can anyone give me some feedback as to how they think this stock will fare? It’s currently at 1.88 a share and was once close to $16 a share.

Corn is massively over planted in China at the moment and there are new brands of seed coming onto the market all the time. Once one person does something in China, you can reasonably expect half the population to follow shortly. That often leads to an over surplus and a drop in price.

Getting your company on the stock market requires a process called underwriting. Underwriting is when an investment bank goes out and attempts to get investors to purchase the securities (stock) of your company. It is through this underwriting procedure that a company goes from being private to being publicly traded on one of the stock markets.

have heard of a Recruiting Company..and was curious what this is and what it does? how profitable?

when this idea came about? and why?

anything can explain appreciated.

They are an outsourced (contracting out) service for HR department. I.e, you don’t have to employ a HR Manager in your firm. You just have to specify what you need (in terms of employee) to the recruiting company, and they do it for you. The service include job advertisement, selection, interview, .. the whole process.

Of course, there is a fee to pay. Initially, the fee may seem huge; but in the long term, you’ll save in terms of the salary not paid to a HR Manager.

Besides, you can concentrate more on your own production/service.

Another advantage, is that the recruiting companies have high-calibre professionals. These companies have access to a wider population, therefore recruiting the best for you.

More and more firms prefer to outsource than to have their own HR Dept, as this is cost saving. As a result, the market for recruiting companies are becoming larger; therefore increasing revenue and profitability.

I still don’t understand how a company or corporation raises capital through issuing shares.

For example: If I own 100% of the company and it makes $100 million dollars a year but I want to expand the company globally and need capital to do so, how does issuing share or having the company go public bring money into the company? Don’t I, as owner of 100% of the company collect on any shares sold to others?

I still dont understand how the company gets some of that money.

You ask a great question. There are a number of reasons that companies go public: get liquidity for owners, raise additional capital in public markets, have public stock as a currency for acquisitions, etc.

In the situation you describe, you wouldn’t raise any additional capital if you’re only selling shares you already own in the public offering. Only you, the owner, would receive capital from the IPO.

In most IPOs, however, additional shares are issued to raise additional capital. Let’s say your 100% ownership is 10 million shares ($10 a piece). In an IPO, you want to raise $25 million. You would issue 2.5 million additional shares in the IPO at $10 a share to receive $25 million when they are issued. You could also sell some of your own shares, but that money would come directly to you rather than into the company.

The $25 million raised would come in as cash to the company and would be used to create more value for the company. Here is more detail on how the process plays out:

He is on weak ground. He can claim that the shareholders employed him as an officer of the company and he carried out his duties in good faith. However he should have had good reason to believe the company actually existed to justify his position.
