Is there any advantage in trading shares through an Ltd company, compared to trading as an individual?

Only the same advantages (or not) that there are when carrying on any other trade or business.

The main advantage of a Ltd company is that liability is limited, so if you become insolvent or get sued you are not at risk of losing everything you own. But if you are buying and selling shares I suspect that the risk of this is low.

There are taxation differences between the two options, but there is no easy answer to which one is "better". It will need a detailed assessment of your exact circumstances to know for sure.

I am currently a sole trader but would it be easier to get a loan as a LTD company? I really don’t want my personal assets being affected by the borrowings.

You would need to stand as guarantor for your limited company for any bank borrowings so it doesn’t make much difference. Unless, of course, your company has enough assets to cover the value of the loan. The bank would probably use your property/house as security for a loan whether as a company or sole trader. Have you thought of an overdraft as it work out a lot cheaper than a loan?

Thanks

Private lshares Privatey is a corporate body, having capital contributed by many. To own a private company, you should hold majority shares. Terms of employment with TATA Motors may not allow you, to carry on business or even to be a Director of another company. Even if it is allowed, your full time employment will not allow to concentrate in your business. Instead of starting a private limited company, you can own a proprietary business in your name, carried on by a third person on your behalf.

I am running a small web company that makes around £400 a month, To gain trust on the web a LTD company is much better than a sole trader. How would this effect my current job which if at all and what would the cost of compliance be roughly (Accountancy etc)

It should not affect your job unless you spend more time on your business and less on your work. Which would mean your business is growing a very good thing. It is great to take this to the next step. Cost vary from place to place, call your local gov. agency or call a accountant. most will have a first consult for free. Have your questions ready. It will change your income and tax status, you are still small so the impact should be minimal.
Best of Luck

Tip: Don’t relay on consultants, instead, try looking for a mentor. the difference of course is that a mentor does not get paid, and it is truly in his or her best interest to help you, you can start today by signing up at your local Small Business Chamber Of Commerce, get to their meetings and meet people from your industry. there are a lot of meeting for entrepreneurs in the cosmetics industry there; try it out, its only a few bucks to sign up and the value is amazing, as long as you attend the meetings and mixers they have.

if you want to do it without spending any money, try Mentor.com or Score.

best of luck
