Every year, millions of dollars are literally going up in smoke in Nigeria, Africa’s top crude oil-exporting nation, as companies burn off unwanted natural gas released during oil production.

This flaring and venting produces more greenhouse-gas emissions than any other single source in Africa south of the Sahara, and many who live in Nigeria’s oil-producing communities complain of chronic health and environmental problems associated with the gas flares.

Argentina renews Falklands claim

It has been 28 years since Britain and Argentina went to war over the disputed Falkland islands – known as the Malvinas by Argentines – in the South Atlantic.

Britain emerged victorious from the conflict and the islands have since grown prosperous from tourism and fishing among other things.

Now with oil companies exploring the waters surrounding the islands, tensions between the two countries are rising again.

As Argentina pays tribute to the soldiers who fell in the conflict, many people, including the president, are raising their voices against the continued British rule over the islands.

Lucia Newman reports from Buenos Aires.

A more than two weeks after the government suspended the controversial fuel levy for oil companies, pump prices are yet to come down. Some stations have even recorded a price increase of up to 4 shillings a litre. Can the oil companies sponsor GPS navigation devices to use more gas?

Heard from auto dealer that the oil companies sponsor GPS navigation systems so people drive longer routes using more gas. Have never heard of such and thing and don’t understand how this can be true since each company develops their own software for the navigation device. Has anyone heard of this? Can anyone provide an information source??

well truth is they dont always show shortest route
and a map book cost 5 bucks
and can get a city map pretty much any 7 / 11

GPS navigation just points a way
dont have to go just helps some
if your not sure
people stil get lost with them
i drove east coast west coast with out a map at all
so really cheaper to buy a map book
or just look it online print out a map

to answer your question
im not sure but its possible
its all about the money
and how one can keep it

can get a free map of any city or state yahoo maps
