    How much freedom do …
    How much freedom do we have in our realm? You have a list a doctors who you can see, your network. If you go outside that network, you may have to foot the entire bill. We have a bureaucrat telling you which procedures you may have, the health insurance company. What freedom do you actually have?

  2. 74mackd Says:

    We aren’t talking …
    We aren’t talking about a cell phone plane or auto repairs, we are talking about people. Its morally wrong to charge someone for health. Especially when we throw so much money at the wealthy and politically connected.

    Well!!!!!!

    Well!!!!!!

    Finally a Democrat willing to say the obvious. To make a government enforced mandate to buy a product. And to gaurantee 30 million extra policy holders even if the government has to pick up the tab only works to enrich the insurance companies. Now there are 1,300 insurance companies in the US. But not all of these companies will get the benefit. Only the politically connected larger companies will benefit while they let the smaller ones go under.
    THIS IS NOT CAPITALISM!!!!!

  4. signboyy Says:

    there is nothing …
    there is nothing you can do to defend this dysfunctional system when i state this fact:

    right now 60% of all bankruptsies are due to medical bills. and 75% of those medical bankruptsies involve people who have medical insurance.

    Problem with FREE healthcare here in America, Healthcare is not a Right…Life, is a Right…Healthcare is a service…you must contract this service with another individual, the doctor…with a government system, i lose the power of contract as does the doctor…that is not freedom, any way you look at it.

  7. helltrackrider Says:

    @aunicornist

    .. …
    @aunicornist

    …and, obviously, if they have a “single payer” system paid for by the government (essentially those who pay the tax roll – which means free healthcare for many)…they are lacking any freedom whatsoever in there healthcare realm

    @aunicornist

    Where did i say we had “more” freedom?

    I said…Japan wasnt founded on the concept of freedom or individual liberty; Japan has historically been a nation ruled by an Emporer…in such, you live and die by the Emporers will.

    Again, i also stated kudos to Japan for creating a similar government to that of our once, Constitutional Republic…but, they have kept many communist ideas as well

  9. aunicornist Says:

    You keep switching …
    You keep switching tracks. Now you’re talking about gun bans. I said ”what freedoms do we have that are sorely lacking in Japan because of their health care system”

    The legality or illegality of firearms is an entirely separate issue from health insurance. Or was the gun ban caused by their health insurance?

    Previously in the US, a cop could not pull you over nor search you for whatever reason they deem necessary; now, it is quite the opposite…this is what happens when you strip a nation of its right to protect itself through bearing arms; the nation falls into an autoritarian police state where government bears all rights and the People are granted priveledges from the Government; not Rights…what a way to live, not for yourself…but for society and government…pathetic

    @helltrackrider

    @helltrackrider

    That’s irrelevant. You He said that single payer would halt medic innovations and I showed you that it doesn’t have to. Just curious, what freedoms do we have that are sorely lacking in Japan because of their health care system? The freedom of having to choose between either feeding your children or paying the rent? The freedom of medical bankruptcy? Please, save me your blind patriotism.

    @aunicornist

    Like i said previously…Government intrusion into our lives has been accepted as the norm…income tax = illegal in a free society; yet – we have it. Income tax was used only in a time of war up until 1913; now, it is used to spread the wealth through Medicare/Medicaid/Welfare/Social Security/Subsidies/Etc….all programs, which again, are illegal to a free society, as they confiscate wealth from one and redistribute to another whom is not entitled to one mans labor.

    Japan wasnt founded on the ideology of individual liberties and personal freedom either.

    Although, i’ll give it to the Japs for trying to mimic our governmental system; seeing that from 1800 till now it has been the most successful economically and politically…too bad that over the past 80 years or so social programs and intentional misinterpretations of the Constitution have been accepted as the norm, now our system is on the verge of collapse

    Bankruptcies are a …
    Bankruptcies are a consumer protection which works effectively in removing debt. If someone acquires an outrages amount of medical debt then they can declare bankruptcy. What is the problem with medical bankruptcy? People need to start taking responsibility for their actions and learn to save. Medical cost would drop tomorrow if the free market was excepted. Just look at how much cosmetic surgery cost have dropped.

    Single-payer is the most pro-business option there is, when it comes to healthcare. Combine this with monetary reform and you can greatly cut taxes AND provide medicare for all.
