I’m not a FDNY Firefighter but I know that you have to be a resident of one of the five boroughs of New York City, or live in Nassau, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Suffolk or Westchester County.

You can be as young …
You can be as young as 17 or 18 1/2 years old and older to take the exam. I have been told this from my FDNY friends at Ladder 12 and Engine 3 in NYC. And you can know the general stuff about it and when you get there, you’ll be learning a whole lot more.

you need to be at least 17 and a half to take it and it is basic things that any firefighter would need to know they test you on different areas like observation and memorization it really isnt that bad just make sure your in good shape for the physical
