Who uses them? they …
Who uses them? they are attached to teams but never get used, maybe on. Im just trying to help this guy out, psyop officers and ncos are usually q-course failures. Yes i know the are “spec ops” but when you join you will realize no one respects them as a whole. Some individuals are good but thats i.

Because they are …
Because they are the only people in SOF excluding CA now, that dont have to go through any type of real training. They go through AIT and Lang. CA use to be all prior long tabs for active duty but that changed a few years back so they are on as well now. You look at what Special Forces have to do compared to PSYOP and its night and day, if Psyopers acted like they weren’t cool they would be treated better, but they try to act like they are on our level which is far from true.

if you go psyops …
if you go psyops first sf isnt gonna want you. The best sf officers have an infantry background. SF looks down on PSYOPS so you will be looked at as a soldier that is called SOF with out earning it.

Gonna be wierd going from 19D to 37F but im tired of my boring job. Is 37F exciting at all? id hate to sit in a building in garrison for 13 hours and do nothing then be told go home and do it again the next day.

Lesson 101 “How to …
Lesson 101 “How to Psyop your own domestic population”. Simply conduct a selective truth activity (read “half truth” Psychological Operations product) through the media of the enemy country. Have CNN, NBC and other major US media organisations hear the same “half truths”. They in turn will take these supposed FACTS back to the USA and repeat it on USA media. VOILA!!! You’ve just managed to expose your domestic US population to the same product…………. Easy.

As a 37F, is it possible to go to SERE and/or Ranger training? Also is it true that all active duty 37F must do airborne training? Finally, what is your personal appraisal of the mos and its opportunities?

You can go PSYOP straight out of highschool, you dont have to be an E4. Im a 37f and at least half of the people i went to AIT with were straight form high school.

you can join the …
you can join the reserve and sign up for the job in high school your senior year and they will send you to boot camp and job training over the summer and then you can sign to go active

I’m not PSYOP, but …
I’m not PSYOP, but I’ve done a quite a bit of research. If you go active duty then you go to language school, if you go reserve (75% of PSYOP is made of reservesists) you don’t. I think the age limit is standard with most of the armies. Unfortunatly I don’t think you can get in right out of highschool. You have to be E-4, so that means either go to college, or join after highschool and advance up the ranks.

are all PSYOP guys really smart? can you only go for this MOS if you are a book worm?
i know you have to learn another language i heard its required. is that true?
what his the age limit on this MOS? do you have to be 25 or something? can a student right out of high school go for this MOS?
I very interested in this will someone plz fill me in?

Unfortunately, …
Unfortunately, policy restricts the use of females in theatre and very rarely do females in PSYOP operate at the tactical level. Although they get some chances to go out with the teams, they pretty much are assigned to the PDD and HQ. Not exciting, especially knowing that female PSYOP’ers can be an invaluable tool at the tactical level because of their ability to talk to HN females at MEDCAP’s or DENCAP’s. They usually can gather a lot of good S2 during these missions which yield good results.

Active or Reserves? …
Active or Reserves? PSYOP is a people business and honestly, the best PSYOP soldiers were the the guys with some life and soldier experience. I say this becuse I had seven yrs of exp. in PSYOP and the guys who really did well were the guys who were prior service and had a lot of life experience.

The Smith-Mundt Act of 1948 prohibits use of PsyOps on US citizens.
This presents a bit of a problem now that the Bush admin thinks it needs to deal with domestic enemies in the war on terror.
