Don’t worry, I’m vegetarian going on vegan too. I was just wondering about researching different companies.

Unfortunately not. HLS are one of a few Contract Research Organisations (CRO’s) in the UK, others being Sequani/Quintiles, for example. However, there are many more animal testing facilities in the UK – including almost all universities and some hospitals.

There is a lot of disinformation out there about animal testing, and here’s the reason why: BIG BUCKS! Animal testing allows products to generate any result desired, pushing them onto the markets as quickly as possible. Sadly, it is the people who consume the product that are the true guinea pigs, which is why one of the biggest killers in the UK is actually side effects from prescription drugs. It is said that animal testing is reliable 5-25% of the time. Just think about that statistic for a second – it’s actually less effective than flipping a coin.

There is growing concern amongst scientists and doctors alike that animal testing is causing immense strain on the NHS and is seriously detrimental to public health. There are many groups using non-animal methods and making great leaps in scientific discover – see Dr Hadwen Trust as one such example.

Complete a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis and write a business plan to prove that the business idea is workable. Go to http://sba.gov/smallbusinessplanner/plan/writeabusinessplan/index.html or http://www.score.org/template_gallery.html for instructions on how to write a business plan and sample business plans.

when is it preferable to incorporate a company and when a corporation? what are legal rights which an entity enjoys by adopting the legal status of Corporation which it may not attain as a company?

In the Indian context, Companies are incorporated under the Companies Act 1956 and corporations are formed under special Acts.

Both enjoy the status of corporate existence, meaning they are legal persons enjoying perpetuity unless wound up through the process of Law. While a limited company generally has shareholders whose liability is limited to the extent of their shareholding in the company, in the case of corporation such a situation does not arise as they are formed through special Acts with government funding, like the Food Corporation of India. Such corporations need not add the word Ltd. to their name. The companies formed under companies Act will have to add the word Ltd., except if they are non-profit organisations and specifically granted recognition under section 25 of the companies Act.

I currently work for a family owned company and was told that non-family owned companies are better to work for. Why is that?

Also, is a big corporation better to work for then a small one?

The pro of a family owned business is that you work with people who are familliar to you. The con is that because they are family, they can also take advantage of your hard work and good nature easily. Many children work in the family business and don’t get paid or get paid less than an unrelated employee would. This can create conflict if the family doesn’t have any business experience or managment skills.

Apple never invented computer, music players, phones, tablets. As far as I know it was Toshiba who had first launched a tablet pc. Motorola invented Mobile phones. Sony is known for their walkman and music players. Apple started manufacturing phones only after the mobile phone technology has developed its maximum. Other companies like Motorola, Samsung, Nokia etc has been in this business since the time of black and white mobile phones. Yet Apple is suing them all as if they invented everything. It’s really funny yesterday born Apple is suing the grandpa companies over patent infringement.

Companies usually pay royalties to incorporate technology patented by competitors. Apple has every right to sue companies that are using its technology without approval.

What does a marketing company actually do? What is the purpose of it? I am going for a job interview for admin work in a marketing company and don’t understand what they actually do, i am just wondering what they do in case the employer asks me questions about marketing etc

Network marketing companies often have distributors recruit people by phone.
Flag this photo

Network marketing, also called multilevel marketing, is the process of recruiting a team of distributors to help you market a company’s products. Network marketing is a completely legitimate business opportunity, according to Entrepreneur magazine. Many large manufacturers operate on principles similar to network marketing, distributing their wares through multiple levels such as wholesalers and retailers before reaching the consumer. There are many types of network marketing companies, some of which are more common than others.

Nutritional Companies
Nutritional companies are the most common type of network marketing company, based on the "Top 25" list of network marketing companies at Nexera, an online reference and training site. Nutritional businesses are so popular because people generally like the products. These items are also highly consumable, and most distributors purchase these products monthly with an automatic shipment plan. People like nutritional products because they lose weight or experience increased energy when using them. Therefore, nutritional products also have wide appeal in the network marketing industry. Nutritional network marketing companies usually create many different brochures, tapes and videos to help their distributors recruit members into their businesses. Most nutritional network marketing companies also use conference call systems and postcard mailing systems to increase the success of their distributors.

Internet Service Companies
Anyone who reads business opportunity magazines knows that various Internet products also sell well through network marketing. People need a domain name or uniform resource locator (URLs), which is the location where customers find business websites on the Internet, for their businesses. Other popular Internet network marketing products include web hosting, web design software, auto responders and email marketing systems. All online companies need web hosts from which to run their sites. Yahoo! is one example of a web host. Businesses usually pay web hosts a monthly rental fee to keep their websites active. Auto responders are software tools that send out automatic emails to customers or potential customers. Email marketing systems are software packages that allow online marketers to send out thousands of emails simultaneously.

Information Products
There are also companies that sell information products via network marketing. In 2011, more informational product distributors are selling ebooks. The advantage of selling ebooks is that they cost the company little or nothing to create. The information products network marketing company does not have to pay to ship ebooks out to people. Ebooks are usually downloaded onto people’s computers automatically when payment is received. Still, some information products companies will distribute cassette tapes, CDs and video instructions to distributors participating in their business.

Cosmetics and Personal Care Companies
Some of the oldest network marketing companies, including Mary Kay and Avon, got started selling cosmetics, perfumes and personal care products. These items are purchased and consumed fairly regularly, which makes them ideal for network marketing. Many cosmetics and personal care companies use the party plan method for selling their wares. Distributors ask people to throw shows or parties where they show their wares to invited guests. Some distributors prefer to just make commissions from selling products. However, those who become managers usually recruit other distributors and earn commissions off their distributors’ sales as well.

Truth is that you can call the CEO/President the Headman, the Bambambam or what have you. I don’t know if you get my drift, but it means it’s arbitrary. Check CEO in Wikipedia about it; it WILL help you in clearing this.
