Why do oil companies act like oil is a renewable resource?

Oil companies talk and act like lower oil prices are likely, however, the oil futures market and hedge funds point to higher and higher prices (attributed to "peak oil").
What is the motivation of the oil companies for their posItion?
Oil is renewable. The only problem is that oil from sources other than crude fossil oils is far more expensive.

Because they know that there is enough fossil fuels to last for their lifetime and they are making huge amounts of money. They don’t care about our descendants.
